I am Valdemar “Val” Carnegie, a passionate young journalist with a strong interest in both sports and traditional broadcast news. My experience spans multiple areas of media including print, podcasts, and radio, but I have found my true calling in broadcast journalism. Being both in front of the camera and behind the scenes has allowed me to develop a well rounded skill set and a deeper understanding of storytelling in a fast paced news environment.
Throughout my journey I have gained hands on experience producing news packages, working as an on air personality, and writing sports stories. These opportunities have strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, think critically, and connect with audiences. While I consider myself a multimedia journalist, I have discovered a particular passion for producing live newscasts.
In Fall 2025 I served as a newscast producer for FAMU TV 20 where I helped bring stories to life through organized and engaging broadcasts. I am now continuing to grow in that role as a senior producer, taking on more leadership and responsibility in the newsroom. These experiences have confirmed my desire to pursue a career in news production at a professional level.
I am an ambitious journalist who is always eager to learn, improve, and take on new challenges. Whether covering breaking news or producing a live show I am committed to delivering accurate and compelling content that informs and engages the community.
